If you have never seen a Hal Hartley film, this is the place to begin.  Don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t be driven away by the rhythm and pace of the dialog, but listen deeply to what is actually being said... that\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s the Hartley formula.  You may need to watch this movie twice or more to catch the entire content.  Perhaps watch it the first time with the head of a pervious teen, then the second time with all of your learned maturity.

Just by all means do yourself a favor and watch it!

Synopsis:

Maria (Adrienne Shelly), a Long Island high schooler, is having a thoroughly bad time. Her father\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s dead from a heart attack, partly caused by a slap Maria delivers after he goes ballistic when she admits she\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s pregnant. Plus, her boyfriend is MIA. Enter grenade-toting electronics whiz Matthew (Martin Donovan), who may be her meant-to-be. Hal Hartley\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s achingly honest film pairs two misfits in a strange tale of love, hope and redemption.
